Wiveliscombe Young Farmers spread some wealth in the direction of the St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice and Conquest Riding Centre for the Disabled by way of a Muckathon.
Fifteen members of Wiveliscombe Young Farmers club and advisory committee took part in the 12 hour muck spreading marathon, dispersing around 2000 tonnes of muck across 45 acres of land at Smokey Farm near Taunton owned by Mrs Mary Cook.
The mucky mission started at 9.00am on Saturday 19th February 2005, and the last of the manure was spread some 10 hours later.
The event rose over £2000 through sponsorship which will be split between local charities St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice and Conquest Riding Centre for the Disabled.
Wiveliscombe Young Farmers club were kindly supported by Total Butler who made a generous donation of fuel, Kings Farm Machinery and Fox’s Farm Services and a number of local farmers who contributed machinery.
